Art Gallery Launched - A great view and butternut soup!

'Worldsview' - The cluster and townhouse complex hanging from the famous  ‘Aasvoelkop’  has become the venue for one of South Africa’s up-and-coming artists to display her artworks.

Lindé (pronounced Linday) hosted her 2nd art exhibition in Johannesburg on 26 May 2011 with great success. This solo exhibition, which features work including a selection from the artist “African faces”  theme, as well as her "Cityscapes" theme were displayed at the studio from where the artist will make her home for the next few months. As part of the exhibition, this talented artist exhibited her own selection especially for a Gauteng based audience. A homely atmosphere showed the art on display as inviting for the viewers – and to add more:   the artist played host and served her own butternut soup recipe to guests of the exhibition that enjoyed the lights of the city at night. Lindé will host a few more exhibitions this winter and the gallery will be opened to viewers on Sundays between 2 pm and 5 pm.

Hanlie Britz; General Manager of Absa Home loans who attended the exhibitions says: “She is a very talented artist and should take her brilliant and wonderful talent ahead with passion.”

"Kunskwatier" (Art Quarter) Article in Absa Festival guide 2-9April

English version - KKnK Official Website:

"In a bold new step to represent the full spectrum of visual art in South Africa, 2011 sees the launch of the Art Quarter at the Absa KKNK (Klein Karoo National Arts Festival).

In addition to the established curated exhibitions, where the country's top contemporary artists are featured, the Art Quarter now offers artists an unique opportunity to exhibit their art at what remains one of South Africa's premier art events. The Absa KKNK continues to draw a huge audience of theater and music fans, with a substantial number of discerning visitors that collect art. It is with this target market in mind that the Art Quarter is being facilitated.

The Art Quarter consists of two sections. The first section is situated in the heartbeat of the festival activities, but toward the restaurant area of leafy avenues, this trendy yet relaxed part of town contains many historical buildings suited to art exhibitions. Over the years this area has organically become the haven of independent solo exhibitions by leading artists. These artists have enjoyed success and are excited by the prospect of developing the Art Quarter into a fine art fair within the national arts festival. The second section takes you to galleries in the vicinity of Oudtshoorn, De Rust and Calitzdorp."

The city of Salzburg is situated by the river Salzach, a river that runs across the entire province in a bended curve and shapes the landscape of it. The Salzach is 225 kilometres long and one of the most important rivers of the Austrian Alps.
This is probably due to the similarity in the names. In fact, "Salz" means salt and "Ache" is an old German term for a river. The name therefore refers to the importance that the Salzach had as a transportation route for salt from Hallein and other mining places of the province up to the late 18th century.
